Memoir & Autobiography Ghostwriting
The Echowright
Preserving the echoes of a life in words that endure
The Echowright helps turn the life you've lived into a story you can share, preserving the memories, people, and moments that shaped it. Through collaborative memoir and autobiography ghostwriting, I work from your recollections, notes, and personal materials to create a compelling, carefully structured narrative in a voice that feels authentically yours. Whether you wish to record your family history, reflect on a defining chapter, or share your life story with a wider readership, I approach each experience with sensitivity, clarity, and respect for the facts. The result is a thoughtfully written account of your real life, not a fictionalised retelling.

✦ THE ECHOWRIGHT JOURNEY ✦
Two Paths.
One Life, Faithfully Told.
Every Echowright commission begins with your memories and your voice. Choose how closely you would like to shape the manuscript as your life story takes form.
THE DISCOVERY STAGE
1. Share Your Story
The memories that matter most
We begin with a conversation or written questionnaire about the experiences you want to preserve, your intended readers, preferred tone, manuscript length, and any sensitive subjects or boundaries. We also agree how to gather your recollections and supporting materials, how involved you would like to be, and the scope of the commission.
Choose Your Journey
For those who want to shape the telling of their life story along the way.
2. Gather the Memories
The pieces of your story come together
Through agreed conversations, written reflections, and any photographs, letters, notes, or other materials you wish to share, I organise the memories, people, places, and moments that matter to your story.
3. Shape the Narrative
Finding the thread through the years
I develop a chronological or thematic structure, shaping your recollections into a clear outline. You review the proposed approach, and we refine it within the agreed planning scope before drafting begins.
4. The Pages Take Shape
Your voice guides the writing
I turn your recollections into a manuscript that reflects your perspective and voice. At agreed milestones, you review the developing chapters, clarify details, and share feedback, with revisions incorporated according to our agreed process.
5. The Final Echo
Your memories, preserved in words
Once the manuscript is complete, I incorporate the agreed final refinements and any confirmed factual corrections, then prepare your finished memoir or autobiography for delivery.
The Collaborative Journey lets you revisit memories, check details, and shape the manuscript as it develops, rather than waiting until the full draft is complete.
For those who prefer to share their memories, then leave the writing in my hands.
2. Map the Life Story
The narrative finds its direction
Using the recollections and materials you share, I propose a structure, tone, and focus for your memoir or autobiography. We agree the direction and scope before the drafting begins.
3. Let the Memories Speak
Your experiences become a manuscript
Working from our agreed brief, I independently write your life story into a coherent narrative without requiring regular chapter reviews. I may check with you when an essential detail needs clarification.
4. Your First Reading
See your life story on the page
You receive the complete first draft to read as a whole. You review how your experiences have been portrayed and provide one consolidated set of feedback, including corrections and refinements within our agreed scope.
5. The Final Echo
Your story, ready to be shared
I complete one agreed revision round, incorporate confirmed corrections, finalise the manuscript, and deliver your finished memoir or autobiography.
The Independent Journey gives you the space to share your memories and then discover them as a complete manuscript, without the commitment of regular chapter reviews.
The Creative Partnership
You Bring the Memories.
I Bring the Words.
You don't need to be a writer to have your life story written. No polished manuscript, perfectly ordered timeline or writing experience required. Whether you have journals full of memories or simply stories you've carried with you, I'll help shape your experiences into a memoir or autobiography that reflects your voice.
The Life You've Lived
Share the people, places, experiences and turning points you want your book to explore. Bring recollections, letters, photographs, diaries or notes, in whatever form feels comfortable to you.
You don't need to remember every date, organise events into chapters or find the perfect words. I'll ask about important details when needed, and you'll have opportunities to review how your experiences are told.
The Writing Craft
I'll listen carefully, organise your material and find a narrative shape that brings your experiences to the page with clarity, warmth and depth, while preserving your perspective and the qualities of your voice.
I'll handle the structure, prose and revisions included in our agreement. Where details are uncertain, I'll check with you rather than invent events or present guesses as fact.
Your Story, at Your Pace
Perhaps you'd rather answer questions in writing, share existing materials or talk through particular memories. We'll agree on a comfortable way to work together and clear points for reviewing the manuscript. Your input helps keep the account true to your experience, but writing the book is my job.
You bring the memories. I'll find the words.
The Echowright · Our Writing Agreement
Your Life, Your Terms
I · The Personal Narrative
Your Memories, Your Voice
Personal Direction, Accuracy & Revisions
Your experiences form the heart of every Echowright commission. My role is to help shape them into a compelling, coherent narrative while preserving your perspective, personality and voice.
Before writing begins, we'll agree on the purpose, scope and intended audience of your autobiography, along with its narrative approach, approximate length and the experiences you most wish to preserve.
Your memories and any supporting materials provide the foundation of the manuscript. Where recollections are incomplete or details uncertain, we'll agree on how to approach gaps, reconstructed conversations and differing perspectives rather than knowingly presenting invented events as fact.
You will also have a say in how sensitive experiences, difficult relationships and deeply personal moments are portrayed. Together, we'll establish any subjects, names or details you would prefer to approach with particular care.
You'll have opportunities to review the manuscript at the stages agreed in your proposal, correct factual details and request refinements to its tone, emphasis, structure or emotional resonance.
Revisions are intended to strengthen the manuscript within its agreed scope. Substantial changes to the narrative direction, intended length or previously approved material may require a revised quotation and schedule.
Your individual proposal will establish the project scope, review stages, revision allowances and any relevant boundaries before work begins.
Your life provides the story. Your voice should remain at its heart.
II · The Promise of Trust
Your Life, Safeguarded
Ownership, Credit & Confidentiality
Sharing the details of your life requires trust. You should feel confident about how your personal experiences will be handled and what happens to your finished manuscript.
Before the project begins, we'll establish the terms governing ownership, copyright, permitted use and the point at which the agreed rights to the completed work transfer to you. These arrangements will be documented in your individual service agreement.
The Echowright is intended for clients who wish to share their life story under their own name or chosen pen name. Whether any public ghostwriting credit or acknowledgement is given will be established in advance.
Your personal memories, unpublished materials, supporting documents and information shared during our collaboration will be handled in accordance with the agreed confidentiality terms and applicable privacy obligations. Non-disclosure agreements can also be discussed where appropriate.
When your story involves other people, we'll discuss how to approach identifying details, sensitive information and potentially contentious accounts, particularly where publication could affect another person's privacy or reputation.
Any portfolio use, manuscript excerpts or public acknowledgement of our collaboration will require your permission in accordance with the service agreement.
Your memories deserve thoughtful care, and so does the trust you place in the person entrusted with telling them.
FAQs
-
Not at all. You can begin with personal memories, photographs, letters, recordings, unfinished notes or simply the desire to tell your story. I'll take care of transforming your material into a structured, engaging manuscript.
-
No. Your manuscript might explore your whole life, a particular period, a significant relationship or a transformative experience. We'll establish the focus and intended scope together.
-
That's perfectly natural. Memories are rarely complete or perfectly chronological. I'll help you identify gaps, explore what you recall and distinguish uncertain details from established facts. We won't invent events or present speculation as verified truth.
-
That's your choice. The Collaborative Journey offers opportunities to review and shape your manuscript as it's written. The Independent Journey allows you to approve the initial direction and then review the completed draft. Both require your input at agreed stages.

Yes. Each pathway includes feedback and revision arrangements defined in your agreement. Changes that refine the agreed manuscript are distinguished from substantial additions or a new creative direction, which may affect the project fee and schedule.

Ownership, rights transfer and author attribution will be specified in your service agreement. Ghostwriting is intended to allow your story to be presented in your name, without automatic public credit to the ghostwriter. The exact terms will be confirmed before the project begins.

Confidentiality requirements can be discussed before you share sensitive material, including the possibility of a non-disclosure agreement. Any specific provisions concerning privacy, use of materials or public acknowledgement will be confirmed in writing.
