Creative Direction & Revisions
Your experiences are the foundation of every Dreambrewer commission. The story we create is a work of fantasy or science fiction inspired by your life, rather than a literal retelling of it.
Before development begins, we'll agree on the memories, relationships, themes and emotions you most wish to preserve, along with the genre, tone, intended length and degree of fictionalisation. We'll also establish any personal boundaries or particular requirements.
Using your completed Dreambrewer questionnaire, I'll create a preliminary worldbuilding bible, character dossiers and plot map. You'll review these foundations and help refine them before the manuscript is written, so that the imaginative direction reflects your vision.
Once drafting begins, you'll be invited to review the manuscript at agreed milestones. Your feedback can guide refinements to characterisation, relationships, dialogue, pacing, emotional impact and the treatment of important experiences.
Fictional settings, characters, timelines and events may differ substantially from reality. We'll agree on how sensitive memories and recognisable people are represented, ensuring the transformation respects the boundaries established for your story.
Revisions are intended to strengthen the manuscript within its approved direction. Substantial changes to the established premise, major plot elements, genre or intended length may require a revised quotation and schedule.
Your individual proposal will define the project scope, development and review stages, revision allowances and any relevant boundaries before work begins.

Ownership, Credit & Confidentiality
Turning your life into fiction can involve sharing deeply personal experiences. Those memories deserve thoughtful care, even when they become the inspiration for something extraordinary.
Before the project begins, we'll establish the terms governing ownership, copyright, permitted use and the point at which the agreed rights to the completed work transfer to you. These arrangements will be documented in your individual service agreement.
The Dreambrewer is intended for clients who wish to share a fictionalised version of their life under their own name or chosen pen name. Whether any public ghostwriting credit or acknowledgement is given will be established in advance.
Your questionnaire responses, personal memories, photographs, correspondence and other supporting materials will be handled in accordance with the agreed confidentiality terms and applicable privacy obligations. Non-disclosure agreements can also be discussed where appropriate.
When the narrative draws on identifiable people or sensitive experiences involving others, we'll discuss appropriate fictional transformations and privacy considerations. Changing names or settings alone may not always prevent someone from being recognised.
Any portfolio use, manuscript excerpts or public acknowledgement of our collaboration will require your permission in accordance with the service agreement.
Imagination should never come at the expense of trust.

Yes, within the feedback and revision arrangements agreed for your project. Changes that substantially alter the approved direction, structure or length may require additional work and a revised quotation.

The ownership and transfer of rights will be established in your service agreement before writing begins. This ensures you know exactly which rights you'll receive and when they transfer.

Ghostwriting credit and confidentiality will be agreed before the project begins. If you'd like to discuss a non-disclosure agreement, please mention this when enquiring.

If your original idea grows into something larger, we can discuss extending the manuscript, developing additional material or planning another book. Work beyond the agreed project scope would be quoted separately.
