Hello! I’m Jodie Gray, the editor, wordsmith, and enchantress behind Gray Matter Edits.

Born with a book in one hand and a pen in the other, I’ve been spellbound by the power of words for as long as I can remember. Originally from England, I now call Finland home — a land where quiet libraries, serene lakes, and magical forests continue to inspire my love of language and storytelling.

With a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and years of experience working with manuscripts, research papers, and everything in between, I’ve helped countless writers and academics refine their ideas into works of clarity and impact. My passion lies in guiding fiction authors, scholars, and creative visionaries through every stage of the writing process — from the first draft to publication.

At Gray Matter Edits, I offer two kinds of magic:

When I’m not weaving words, you’ll find me at home with my wife and our four cats — Minnie, Groot, Godzilla, and Rascal — all of whom consider themselves highly qualified editing assistants (especially when keyboards are involved). Our days are filled with books, cat mischief, and long, laughter-filled conversations about the quirks and beauty of English and Finnish.
